At the UCSF med facility tour today, our premed 101 T.A.(a med student at UCSF) surprised us by including the anatomy room in the tour: about two dozens of the same white bag quietly lied on metallic tabletops. We did more than just peek into the room, but out of courtesy for the reader... I'll refrain from describing the details of our interesting tour... hahahh
Back to thinking about the moment I entered the room, I was overwhelmed by a solemnly peaceful feeling. A great sense of respect filled my blank thoughts for these people who donated their bodies so that future med students could gain invaluable knowledge of the human body.
I used to think that it's easy to check the box next to "I will donate my body for medical study purposes". I used to take that choice lightly - almost as if that's something everyone should be doing because it's not a big deal. But my experience today slapped my ignorance away - I don't think I can ever sneer at the person who refuses to let their body carry educational purposes. And those who willingly made that choice, I really respect their generosity.
On the side note, aren't these red leaves pretty? It's from somewhere on Cal campus (that's up to you to explore hahah). I did take many pics during the UCSF tour. But I think these leaves are the prettiest from all the pics I took today :]
